Happy Birthday Dai!

Birthdays not only recognize the length of one’s life, but also how much one has grown.

Recently, we have seen the importance of celebrating every moment, not just the big ones. You don’t have to wait for a milestone year!

I enjoy an initial consultation with my clients to get a feel of their personality - that way I can highlight their charisma during a session. My studio space offers a variety of looks like boho, urban, rustic, and mid-century modern that can fit just about anyone! In the warmer months, I love shooting outside to use the natural lighting and backgrounds for the perfect look.

For this session my clients mother actually gifted her with this session to commemorate her 25th birthday. We met virtually to discuss her goals and to make a plan so that we used every minute to our advantage. Normally I have a list of trusted makeup artists and hairstylists to refer clients to, but she showed up looking great! I started shooting shortly after she arrived, so that no time was wasted. She was such a natural beauty and an ease to work with. I had a lot of fun chatting with her about what her future held. The session was short, but sweet and it felt good leaving knowing the next step would be edits.

Editing is a time where I get to really reflect on the shoot and enhance the photos to make my client’s look like the best versions of themselves. I am not a big believer in drastic edits. I completely understand wanting to erase a blemish or blur out a panty line, but I feel like we are all beautiful in our own right and that should be captured and illuminated; not over-corrected and manipulated.  

We have all learned that nothing should be taken for granted and that NOW is the time to appreciate ourselves for the perseverance, strength, and beauty we have. I’m ready to celebrate you for all that you are, are you?
